Depression Glass Display
Did you know that during the Depression the Quaker Oats Company and other food manufacturers and distributors would put a piece of glassware in boxes of food to entice people to buy their product? Apparently, some movie theaters and businesses would even hand out pieces to patrons.
You can see a beautiful display of Depression glass and learn more about its history at our library during August.
The display is from the collection of Jean McDonald, Gorham. Her sister, Mary Snell wrote an in-depth history and organized the display. Well done!
