Services
Books, etc.
We are primarily a fiction library for adults, young adults, and children. We also have a small non-fiction collection and a selection of DVDs and audiobooks. You can browse our online catalog here. If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we can order it through the Interlibrary Loan Service.

We also offer a cozy and welcoming space to browse, read, visit, or just relax. We invite you to come in and see for yourself.
Getting a library card is easy and free, even if you don’t live in Gorham or Standish. Come on in, fill out a short form, and we’ll give you a North Gorham Public Library card.
Children’s Corner and Story Hour

We have a welcoming, dedicated space for our youngest visitors. Spread out on the rug and read, play with the toys, or create a coloring masterpiece at the table. We love introducing children to the library and have a wonderful collection of books for children of all ages.

Every Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30, former teacher Paula Boyce reads a story and introduces the children to a fun and creative activity, and a little music and movement. Check out What’s Happening, the Events Calendar, or our Facebook page for weekly updates.
Digital Resources

cloudLibrary allows you to download popular eBooks and eAudiobooks for free to your phone, tablet, or some eReaders. Due to Amazon restrictions, the Kindle App and Kindle Paperwhite are not compatible with cloudLibrary. It is available on Kindle Fire and can be accessed on Nook, Kobo, IOS devices, Android, and a personal computer.
Currently, you cannot access cloudLibrary using a North Gorham Public Library card but you can with a card from Portland Public Library, Baxter Memorial Library (Gorham), or Scarborough Public Library. You can learn more on the cloudLibrary website.

The Digital Maine Library provides every resident of Maine with access to online resources that include a collection of full-text articles and abstracts from magazines, newspapers, journals, and references. It also provides students, business people, public library patrons, higher education students, and educators the ability to use online learning tools.
Passes to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

We offer FREE day passes to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay. Passes are available at the library from May to October. Two adults and five children (under 18) per adult can sign up for a day pass. Reserve ahead at the library! You don’t need to specify a time, but it will be helpful if you narrow it down to morning or afternoon.
Note: You must have an NGPL library card to use these passes. If you don’t have one yet, fear not — you can get one for free! You do not need to live in Gorham to have a library card.
Book Clubs
We have two monthly book clubs that meet in the library.
The Monday Morning Book Club meets on the 4th Monday of every month from 11 a.m. to noon, and the After Work Book Club meets the first Wednesday of the month from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Check What’s Happening or the Events Calendar for details.
Free Puzzles
Check out the collection of jigsaw puzzles in our front lobby. Leave one you’ve finished, take one you’d like to do. A great stress reliever!
Groups We Host
Do you have a group looking for a place to meet? Get in touch if you’d like to learn more.
