SUMMARY:Presumpscot River Secrets
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Chris Shane\n\n\n\nMore than one hundred years ago\, the Presumpscot River was dammed at the Windham/Gorham town line\, and that stretch of river was transformed into Dundee Pond. Last summer\, the dam malfunctioned\, and the water level had to be lowered so it could be repaired. As the water receded\, the secrets lying below the surface for decades slowly revealed themselves\, including the river itself. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a special presentation at the library and learn about some of those secrets\, from tree stumps to remnants of the C & O Canal to rapids and waterfalls to scores of buried artifacts. \n\n\n\nPresented by: \n\n\n\nMichael Shaughnessy\, President\, Friends of the Presumpscot River \n\n\n\nLocal detectorist Julie Caswell will show and discuss buried artifacts she found with her metal detector.
